My name is Zubairu Suleiman. As doctoral student pursuing Ph.D. in Educational Technology at the University of Ilorin, I am carrying out research on the topic: “Effect of Augmented-Reality Instructional Package on Undergraduates’ Performance in Geographic Information System Course in Gombe State”. The research is supervised by Dr. (Mrs.) Aderonke K. Soetan, a lecturer at the Department of Educational Technology, University of Ilorin, Nigeria.
One of the courses taking by students for B. Sc. Geography is Geographic Information System (GIS) course. These students usually receive lectures of GIS in a hall or Lab using a computer software called ArcGIS that may not be available to all the students. This research has developed a new application software that can be downloaded and installed in mobile phone for the purpose of learning GIS instead of always going to class for lectures. This new software is called Augmented Reality in GIS (ArGIS).
